I finally got to see Johnny Got His Gun last night!  If you get the opportunity to see it you must!!  Ben was remarkable in it!!  I really enjoyed it.  It was very powerful.   Some of it made you laugh, some was very sad, some was very depressing, it really makes you think though. 

I took my hubby to see it too.  He made fun of me for weeks about going to it.  We had gotten there about 40 minutes prior to it starting and were the first ones there.  He left and was very impressed and liked the fact that Ben was vulnerable in this role.  He had to agree about Ben's performance being so well done and was impressed with Rowan's comments about him.

Rowan Joseph was there and introduced himself and the movie before it started and then he did a question and answer session after the movie.  His Mom and other family members were there too.  He was very down to earh and you can tell how much he respects Ben and how proud of this movie he is.  He is really hoping even though it is such a small movie, that Ben is able to get an award for his performance in this.  Rowan did say the only other movie to even come close to being a 1 person film was Tom Hanks in Castaway.  All Ben had was the chair and the bench to work with and he was fabulous.

Rowan did report to us that he and Ben rehearsed together for 2 and a half weeks and then they shot the film in 5, 8 hour days.  He said the most they ever did was 3 takes on a scene and it was mostly due to Ben feeling he could have done it better, most of the film was done in 1 take though.  

One of the other guests in the theater was impressed that Ben really didn't blink through the performance and asked if he was directed not to.  Rowan said it was all Ben.  He needed very little direction.  The one thing he did tell him to do was before he went into Karen's room the night before he left after her Dad gave him permission to was to wipe his hands before he turned the door knob.

Rowan also reported that the DVD will be in out around April.  He said they want to wait until after LAPD airs which he said would be March, in the ER time slot..  (He also said Ben will be the George Clooney of LAPD).  They want to use Ben and the success of LAPD to promote JGHG.
